Willows (EYFS)

Welcome to Willows

Welcome to Willow Class. We have 2 rooms; Willow Leaf and Willow Branch. The children are free to explore both rooms and the outside area during ‘Discover and Do’ time.  The teachers in Willow Leaf are Mrs Challoner and Mrs Quaglia, and in Willow Branch, Mrs Matthews and Mrs Quaglia. Mrs Chapman will be taking both classes for Music and Mrs Payne will leading Forest School.  The Teaching Assistants are Mrs McVittie, Miss Tombs, Mrs Barrett and Mrs Hopkins.

We usually start the day with register and worship, followed by Phonics, in which the children learn their letter sounds. They love interacting with our Phonics puppets during these sessions. Throughout the day there are teacher led inputs for English, Maths and handwriting. During the child initiated ‘Discover and Do’ time the children can explore activities relating to all the different areas of learning.

This term our connected learning theme is ‘Traditional Tales’ We will be reading The Gingerbread Man, The Three Little Pigs and The Elves and the Shoemaker and our learning in other areas of the curriculum is based around these.

As always, if you need to contact us, this can still be done after school once all the children have been dismissed, via the school office on 01233 614660 or by email office@john-wesley.org.uk
