Term 3 Connected Learning
This term while we will be staying in England, Year 3 will be travelling back in time more than 4000yrs. Through our History, Art and English lessons we will be learning about life in The Stone Age. Our text Stone Age Boy will help us to find the similarities and differences between our lives and those of the people of the past. The text will also help us to cement our understanding of present and past tense writing and further widen our vocabulary, especially verbs. We will then be able to show off our new historical knowledge by applying our writing skills and creating our own historical narratives. Our journey through the past will continue on from the Stone Age to the Bronze Age and then on into the Iron Age. Our special experience day with Living History we bring these time periods to life and highlight the ways the cultures changed and developed.
In Science our focus is Rocks. Learning about their properties will help us to better understand how and why they were used as tools by prehistoric people. We will also investigate what effect time has on their development and adaptation, looking at how both fossils and soil are formed.
In RE we will be introduced to the religion of Sikhism, learning about the belief system, customs and traditions of Sikhs living both in England and abroad. This will help us to identify similarities and differences with our own beliefs and those of our friends and families.
For the second part of the term we will completing Missions that give us the opportunities to apply our newly learned skills to practical problems and to delve further into knowledge we have been gaining in different areas.
