Term 5 Connected Learning

For Term 5 we are heading back into the past but instead of visiting Ancient Britain as we did in Term 3, we are travelling to Egypt to learn how another culture was developing at the same time as we were. In History we will be comparing Ancient Egypt to what we already know about the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages of Britain. We will be using our Geography skills to understand how the Nile helped Egypt to become so prosperous. Learning about the role of the Pharaoh within the Egyptian culture and exploring their belief system.

In Science we are celebrating Spring by studying plants in detail. Learning the vital and unexpected roles each part of the plant plays in its successful growth and development, from photosynthesis in leaves to the ultraviolet markings on petals. We will be growing from seed, dissecting flowers and using microscopes to help us to fully understand the growth process.

Our D&T project is linked to our English text this term as we design a container for a precious object. Through the text Journey we are developing the complexity of our sentences and our descriptions.

In RE we are returning to Christianity, learning about the birth of the faith and how Jesus’ disciples spread the word of God across the world.

For the second part of the term, we will be completing Missions that give us the opportunities to apply our newly learned skills to practical problems and to delve further into knowledge we have been gaining in different areas.
